トレント・パークの写真に惚れてしまいました。Hugo Michell Galleryにて行われていたエキシビジョン、圧倒的な存在感のあるものでした。現在はアデレードに住んでいる彼。インタビューで「なぜアデレード?」という質問にアデレードの”光”と答えていました。新鮮な光、それはアデレードが最高だそうです。写真を撮っていても、光のことまで読み取るほどの能力がない私、とても勉強になりました。そして、彼の言葉でアデレードに住んでいることをちょっと誇りに思えるようになりました。トレント・パークを虜にしたんだもの。今回初めて訪れたこのギャラリー、これまたご近所さん。そして新たなコンテンポラリーアート系ギャラリー。これからもっとこのアデレードで増えていくと良いな。
Officially, I’m in love with Trent Parke’s photography. I went to his exhibition held at Hugo Michell Gallery, which had awesomely energetic, magnificent presence and also sweetness as well. He lives in Adelaide now. His answer to the question ‘Why Adelaide?’ in one of his interviews, he said it was the light and according to him, Adelaide has the most wonderful crisp light. I love taking pictures, but I don’t have the skill to realise about Adelaide’s light, so it was great to know that fact. What he said has made me proud of living in Adelaide a little bit. One of great photographers, Trent Parke fell in love with the Adelaide light. It was our first time to visit the gallery, which turned out sort of our neighbors. Another new contemporary art space, I hope we have more places like that here in Adelaide in the near future.

先月行われていたSALAの会場であったこのグリーナウェイ・アート・ギャラリー。いつも通勤途中に通っていた建物だったけど、まさかこんな素敵なギャラリーだったとは! コンテンポラリーアートを展示するギャラリーというのがこのアデレードでは少なく、ここはとても貴重な存在だと思う。この場所を知る事ができてよかった。
Greenaway Art Gallery was one of the SALA venues last month. I always passed by the building on my way to and from work, but I had no idea that it was such a nice gallery like that! It’s a very cool thing since shamefully there’s only a few contemporary art galleries in Adelaide. It was lucky to find the place.

ちょっと前になりますが、ずっと行ってみたかったノースアデレードのSparrow Kitchen & Barに行ってきました。レストランエリアは予約一杯だったけれど、バーエリアなら予約なしでOKとのことワクワクしながら7時頃にお店へ。忙しいながらもスタッフのサービスもとっても良くて、食事も美味しかった!! 私は前菜がホタテ、相棒はこれまた可愛らしいミニ和牛バーガーを、メインはマルゲリータピザと牛ほほ肉&ニョッキ。美味しいお料理は人を幸せにします :)
We went to Sparrow Kitchen & Bar in North Adelaide a little while ago, where we’d always wanted to go. The restaurant area was fully booked, but we were told we would be able to get our seats without reservation, so we got there around 7 with high expectations. The customer service was great in the super busy situation and the food was fantastic!! I had a scallop and N had a lovely little wagyu burger for entree, then our mains were pizza Margarita and gnocchi with beef cheek ragu. Fabulous foods make people happy, indeed :)

ご近所のマギル・ロードで新しいマーケットが開催されたので行ってきました。アンティークショップや家具屋さんが立ち並んでいてなかなか面白いエリアです。お日様が出てきては隠れたりと不安定なお天気だったけれど、沢山の人が訪れていました。マーケット自体は第1回目ということもあってまだまだこれからだなっていう部分もあったけれど、公園内で小さなアートクラスが開催されたりお約束のピエロ姿のおじちゃんがいたり、のほほ〜んとした雰囲気に包まれていました。次回開催時には昨日大人気で食べれなかったモロッコ料理屋台で絶対食べようと今から意気込みだけは充分。
We went to a new street market on Magill Road yesterday, which is just around the corner from our place. It’s a really interesting area, the mecca of antique shops and furniture shops. The sun constantly came and went, it was a funny weather, but lots of people turned up to the market. There was some nice vibe going on, a little art class for kids in the park, typical clown with balloon. It was the very first run and the market still needs to develop in all sorts of ways, but I enjoyed it and am hoping it’ll be successful. It was shame I couldn’t try their popular Moroccan food stall, well, definitely next time. I (or my stomach) am already ready for that!
